Rose vom Stein Weingut Prieler
Weingut Prieler is located on a beautiful farm in Schützen. The estate's vineyards are located between the Leithagebirge, the last outpost of the eastern Alps that protect the vines from western winds, and Lake Neusidl, which help moderate hot temperatures from the Pannonian Plain.
Rosé vom Stein is a blend of Blaufränkisch (95%) and St. Laurent (5%).
The vineyards are located in Schützner Stein; a 225-meter-high, rocky hill southeast of Schützen.
Schützner Stein is a highly protected wildlife area where deforestation and agricultural cultivation are forbidden. The vineyard is grown on diverse soils including mica-slate, marine limestone, and loamy sand.
Rosé vom Stein is produced using the Saignée method (meaning “to bleed”). This method of wine production involves the “bleeding” off of a portion of red wine juice after it has been in contact with the must (skins, seeds, and stems). Fermentation and maturation occur in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks.
Prieler produced their first certified organic wine in 2016 and they are currently in the process of converting to Respekt certified Biodynamic farming, joining like-minded producers in the area.

A stunning rosé from Austria’s treasured grape varieties Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent. This wine is filled with fresh and tart red berries: strawberry, raspberry, and cranberry. There is a very charming note of hibiscus and orange blossom with savoury ginger spice. The wine is dry, medium-bodied, with lively acidity. |
