Mylonas Retsina

Mylonas officially came into existance in 2000. The history of the winery stretches back to 1917 where Antonis would make his wines and leave them to ferment in amphorae. Today his grandchildren run the property, with a winemaking philosophy of capturing "The authenticity of taste and the expression of Attica through (our) wines".

This is one of the oldest styles of wine being made (dating back to 2nd Century BC) from 100% Savatiano grapes. The grapes are hand-picked and taken immediately to the winery. Fermentation occurs in temperature controlled conditions and pine resin is added to the wine. After fermentation the wine is left on lees for three months with frequent stiring. The result is a wine that can age for decades or that can be enjoyed with its fresh lemon and floral herbal character with underlying fresh pine resin notes.

Taste: Aromas of peach, mango and lemon along with white flowers and herbs. Similar flavour profile on the palate, intense and balanced with refreshing acidity. Fruity, herbaceous and long aftertaste.
Cellaring Potential: Enjoy now or cellar up to 10 years.
Food Matching: Accompanies fried seafood, crispy shrimps in kataifi crust, marinated fish like tuna, salmon, anchovies, Japanese sashimi, carpaccio, cheese croquettes, stuffed grape leaves dolmas and dishes based on garlic.
