Description: Attis Bodegas y Viñedos is located in the centre of Val do Salnés, a small village located on the hillside of Mount Penaguda.  The family-run winery own and cultivate 5 hectares of vines divided into small plots located between 100 and 400 metres of altitude. The soils are loam and sandy with a strong influence from the Atlantic Ocean.   Laranxa (orange) references the method of production of this wine; macerated on Albariño grape skins to extract tannin, colour and flavour.  The vineyards are between 35 and 40 years of age and are situated on granite and sandy- clay soils. Grapes are hand harvested and carefully sorted before they are brought to the winery.  De-stemming followed by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel vats ensues. Extended maceration of 10 days occurs with two punch downs per day using a pneumatic press. Wine is then aged on its lees with batonnage (stirring); wine is fined and filtered before it is bottled.
Taste: a great example skin-contact Albariño; with this method, you produce a wine that is dry, medium bodied with prevalent tannins. The fruit is tart and bruised showing apple, meyer lemon, asian pair and jackfruit. On the mid palate are notes of juniper berry and manuka honey. There is an underlying note blueberry tea, fungi, and bitter almond. The wine finishes long with refreshing acidity.
Cellaring Potential: drink now through to 8+years
Food Matching: Roasted pork. charcuterie, strong cheese and roasted squash.
