Fattoria di San Quintino is situated half way between Florence and Pisa and have been a prominent leader since 1967 in creating distinctive and flavourful wines from Tuscany. Proud owners of over 18 hectares of vineyards, the team shows unwavering commitment to upholding key farming methods to produce artisanal wines that show a strong sense of place.      Chianti DOCG is produced in the commune of San Miniato, Pisa where vineyards are planted at an altitude of 200 m above sea level.  Vines are trained on spurred cordon trellising systems and are harvested by hand when phenolic maturation is reached.   At the winery, alcoholic fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures between 20- 30 °C followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks.  Wine is then transferred to oak tonneaux where it is aged for 6 months. Once bottled, the wine is aged for 6 months before it is placed on the market.
Taste: an approachable Sangiovese in its youth; dry, medium bodied with well-integrated tannin. The wine is driven by fresh red berry fruit; raspberry, strawberry and cranberry. There is an underlying note of leather and earth that nicely complements the subdued spices of cinnamon, clove and star anise.
Cellaring Potential: Enjoy now or cellar for 5 years
Food Matching: Roast beef, tomato based dishes, legumes and medium-hard cheeses.
