Montepulciano d'Abruzzo GIO
In 2015, two friends with a like minded goal of producing organically grown produce to make wine and olive oil gave birth to Mormaj. Nestled between the mountains of Morrone on one side and the Majella, Mormaj borrows its name from the land. The estate, Tocco d'Italy is surrounded by 100 year old olive trees and its proximity to the Adriatic influences temperatures in the valley. The vineyards focus on three main grapes; Montepulciano, Trebbiano and Pecorino. Viticulture is organic with minimal intervention.
Grapes are hand harvested and spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast is encouraged in the stainless steel tanks. They are unfiltered and unfined wines that age in stainless steet tanks for 6 months and rest in the bottle for year before release.
These wines shine with fruit character, herbacious savoury notes and drink clean.

This is youthful easy-drinking style of Montepulciano. Notes of violets, cranberry and plum with leather and earthy tones. The wine is medium bodied with juicy red fruit on the palate and a clean finish. |
