Gigondas 'La Réserve'
Les Bosquets is one of the most beautiful terroirs in the entire Lace massif, its potential is indisputable yet complex. The 26 hectares of AOC Gigondas are structured in a circular manner around different localities such as Jasio, La Colline, Le Plateau, les Bosquets, Roche, Les Routes, and les Blâches. What makes it unique is not so much its geographical unity but rather its geological and micro-climatic diversity. Some plots also produce other appellations, such as the Beaumes-de-Venise, the regional AOC Côtes-du-Rhône villages, Côtes-du-Rhône and some wines in Vin de France for the Petit vin des Bosquets.
A wine of rare complexity and vibrational balance, the one that best transcribes the fabulous potential of the estate. 50 to 100 year old vines of grenach, syrah, moiurvedre, cinsault and clairette are grown on limestone marl at altitude and on fine sand at mid-slope. Manual harvest takes place during the second half of October. Single-plots are vinified with fine extraction at the start of fermentation followed by long vatting in infusion with daily manual wetting. Aged for 18 months, first in plot specific 228L barrels for the syrah, in foudre for the Grenache and through the Demi-muids of 400/500/600L for the rest followed by a 2nd winter assembled in concrete with malolactic fermentation taking place in wood.

Taste: |
The palate is fresh at first then unfolds letting the Grenache speak, more stretched in the finish with tight yet melted tannins. Very good aging potential. |
Cellaring Potential: |
Enjoy now or cellar for 10+ years. |
Food Matching: |
Blood Pigeon, a Beef Wellington, or Pork Filet Mignon. After a few years once the wine becomes more complex, more stretched, even finer perhaps a Hare à la Royale? |
