Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Riserva Fornacina
Cantina Fornacina was founded in 1980 and is located on the outskirts of the city of Montalcino. Situated on approximately 5 acres of land in total, the Biliorsi family produces wine with an unwavering passion that has been passed down through generations. Fornacina is committed to protecting nature and respecting their land and in 2004, they were awarded the Certification to produce wine from organically grown grapes.
Fornacina produces their Brunello di Montalcino Riserva in the best vintages only. The Sangiovese grapes are carefully selected from the vineyards of Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in Montalcino. The grapes are harvested in the fall, between September and October, once they have reached optimal ripeness. At the winery, grapes are vinified in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures. The seeds and skins are then left in contact with the juice for an extended period of maceration; with periodic pump-overs. Following malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged in oak barrels for a period of 36 months. Once bottled, the wine is left to further aged and is released to the market on the 6th year after harvest.

Taste: |
A beautifully balanced and inviting expression of Sangiovese. The wine hosts tart and dried red and black cherry with sweet and savoury balsamic, crushed oregano and roasted tomato. Turned earth, clove, anise and crushed espresso bean nicely complement the savoury notes of the wine. The wine is dry and full-bodied, with elevated tannin that is nicely balanced by the refreshing acidity. |
