Make a Case for Dad this Father’s Day

On June 19th we celebrate Father’s Day! A florist once explained that Father’s Day doesn’t arrive with the same enthusiasm as Mother’s Day because fathers haven’t the same sentimental appeal. While we acknowledge that Father’s Day may be less commercially celebrated, it certainly has equal appeal and appreciation. In selecting the 2022 Edition of the Father's Day Mixed Case we've included wines for celebrating, casual summer gatherings and to hi-light Dad-Chefs tasty BBQ favourites.

Llopart Brut Reserve 2018, Lllopart

A blend Maccabeu, Xarel-lo, Parellada and Chardonnay. The fruit is ripe lemon citrus with green apple and Bosc pear. The mid-palate has notes of toasted bread crumb and light sour cream; the length is long and finishes fresh with nicely integrated bubbles.

A very versatile wine for pairing: enjoy as an aperitif, with fresh oysters on the half shell, fried fish, or soft cheese (such as Brie).

California 'North Coast' Pinot Noir 2019, Stephen Vincent

A rich, round, red fruit driven Pinot Noir from the North Coast of California. Ripe cherry, raspberry, goji berry, strawberry and red plum fill the nose and follow through to the palate. There are underlying notes of clove, allspice and sweet hibiscus that provide a pleasant backbone to the persistent fruit. The wine is dry, full-bodied with refined tannins.

Briego Reserva 2015, Bodegas Briego

Tempranillo in its purest expression from Ribera del Duero; the fruit is ripe red and black cherry with dried fig and raisins. Distinct notes of crushed violet petal, crushed vanilla bean and toasted coconut. Cedar spice, liquorice root and tobacco leaf fuel the palate with an underlying presence of smoked meat. The wine is dry, full-bodied with firm and nicely integrated tannins. Ready for BBQ meats and able to reward for 10+ years of patience.
