Description: The Palamà Winery is a small family estate located in the Apulia region of southern Italy. Established by Arcangelo Palama in 1936, the winery is now on its third generation of winemakers. Arcangelo’s son, Cosimo (known as Ninì) took over in 1988; the wines are crafted from varieties indigenous to the region and are celebrated for the expressive and robust character they exhibit.   The vines for Albarossa are grown on the espalier trellising system.  Grapes are harvested by hand, selecting only the bunches of highest quality. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel at a controlled temperature; yeasts are carefully selected to enhance the wines freshness and fruit quality.
Taste: This is a classic expression of Primitivo; dry, full-bodied, rich in flavour. Ripe and dark fruit drives the wine showing notes of black cherry, blackberry, plums and cassis. There is a warm, baked earth note to the wine with underlying notes of smoky cigar box, camphor, and sandlewood. The finish is long with finely integrated tannins and a lingering note of dark bitter chocolate.
Cellaring Potential: drink now or age for 8+ years
Food Matching: Pair with BBQ: ribs, grilled chicken, pulled pork, grilled halloumi, or fire roasted red peppers
